Collectively creating sites of unlearning
A practical workshop in which we interrogated the role of the curator through collective play, together we unpicked the terms ‘unlearning’, ‘collaboration’ and ‘curation’ through the construction of a wooden framework.
The foundations of the site were used to gather and hold responses, and activate connections between our individual practices.
‘Terms of Engagement is an ongoing project which reflects on the language of participation. We explore curatorial practice and the ways in which we might work with and engage community groups and the public. The course will provide a valuable space for critical reflection and contribute to a published resource that further these dialogues.’

Terms of Engagement
Edited by Kate Watson and Becky Warnock / 2022
This anthology invites a range of UK-based artists, photographers and practitioners to unpack key terms around socially engaged practice and reflect on their own work.
'As it becomes increasingly common for photographers to integrate collaborative and participatory approaches into their practices, often as a means to challenge photographic ethics and the politics of representation, the publication provides a valuable space for critical reflection on the practice. Contributions from Ali Eisa, Eliza Hatch, Jamila Prowse, Under Exposed and more'
